A four-year-old Pekingese named Malachy charmed the packed Madison Square Garden arena crowd and claimed the Best in Show title at the 2012 Westminster Dog Show.
Malachy defeated six other dogs to take the top prize last year at the prestigious annual event for pure bred dogs, a year after finishing in second place. He was the fourth Pekingese to win best in show at Westminster.
Two new breeds will debut at at this year's show.
One of them is the Russell Terrier. Here, Turbo is introduced at a press conference announcing the new breeds in New York City.
Tree Walking Coonhounds are the other new breed at this year's show. This is Xcetera (L) and Meg.
According to Westminster, dogs in the Terrier Group have won the annual show the most -- strutting their way to the coveted Best In Show 45 times.
Dogs in the Sporting Group, like these golden retrievers, have won 19 times.
Working Group dogs, such as this Newfoundland, have won 15 times.
Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group, such as this bulldog, have won 10 times.
Toy Group dogs, such as the Chihuahua, have won 10 times.
Dogs in the Hound Group have won just five times in the show's history. Shown here is a beagle.
Dogs in the Herding Group have won the fewest number of times, taking home Best in Show just once. Shown here are two German shepherds.
