REDDING, Calif. -

A South Redding home was evacuated after an early morning fire that started in the attic.

The fire was reported around 6 a.m. Friday on Wildwood Drive, off East Bonnyview Drive near Market Street.  The fire was contained but light smoke could still be seen coming from the home.

Neighbors describe the home as a half-way house.  Firefighters said normally there are 12 people living there.  Eight people evacuated themselves before firefighters arrived.  Two people were found inside after firefighters arrived.  Firefighters said the two people may have had been afraid or had mental health issues.  Two other people were at the hospital for treatment unrelated to the fire.
