JONES VALLEY, Calif. -

A 12-room, two-story home was ravaged by fire Saturday afternoon.

Fortunately, the two adults and seven children who lived there all made it out alive and well. Five of those children were asleep when the fire started, according to fire officials.

Emergency crews initially got a report that an outbuilding was on fire at 13653 Kitty Hawk Lane at around 4:50 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the outbuilding fully-involved, and the home about 50% involved.

After determining that all the people inside got out, they immediately began defensive operations, which means they fought the fire from the outside because the home was too dangerous to enter.

All told - more than 75% of the home was lost.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Investigators are still looking into the cause.
