Twenty-five thousand dollars worth of equipment was stolen from Headwaters Adventure Company on Friday.
Owner Terri Arbuckle said she and a couple of friends were out to eat when the theft happened. When they came back out, Arbuckle said she noticed that the locks to the company's trailer had been cut.
Then on Saturday, Arbuckle said the whole trailer went missing. That same day she received a phone call from one of Headwaters Adventure Company's customers who said he had seen a white truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot that had three of the company's kayaks in the back.
That customer called Redding police who arrested two males in relation to the theft.
On Monday, Arbuckle said two more kayaks were found stashed in bushes and the company trailer was found with slashed tires.
Now, Headwaters Adventure Company says they are struggling with the financial ramifications of the theft as well as the impacts it is having on customers.
"This weekend I do have some people scheduled," said Arbuckle. “I’m going to have to have to take some of my retail fleet just so I can make those people happy. I don’t want to disappoint anyone."
Merchandise worth $5,000 is still missing.
