A spokesperson with the DOJ said the raid took place on Friday morning and lasted into the afternoon at a home on the 3 thousand block of Sites Road/ Plateau Pines.
The search was conducted by "APPS."
APPS stands for Armed and Prohibited Persons System, a new program put in place by Governor Jerry Brown .
The search was targeting Brian Hamilton who lives at the home with his brother and father.
The DOJ said Hamilton was registered in a state-wide database and can't have any guns but according to their records, he was in possession of at least 5.
Several neighbors who did not want to be identified said the home has been a problem for awhile and children are afraid to walk by on the way to the bus.
Deputies said they have pages of complaints against the Hamiltons over the time they have lived in their home.
Brian was scheduled to be in court today, which is part of the reason why officers chose this morning to conduct the search.
Deputies said Brian and his brother Lynn, who is a felon, were both arrested on weapons charges.
Last check they were waiting to be booked at the Shasta County Jail.
On New Years Day Lynn Hamilton shot and killed his neighbor 42 year-old Lee Roy Thibault.
Deputies said Hamilton was acting in self defense after Thibault threatened Hamilton with a chainsaw and beat him with a baseball bat.
