65-year-old bicyclist recovering after being hit by car

REDDING, Calif. -

A 65-year-old Redding man is recovering after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

The collision happened Sunday at 7:26 a.m. near the intersection of Lancers Lane and Browning Street.     

Police said David E. Castro, 38 of Redding, was driving a 2009 Chevy Impala eastbound on Lancers Lane crossing Browning Street when he collided into Rodelio Luna, 65 of Redding who was riding a bicycle.  Luna was riding his bicycle northbound on the east side of Browning Street when the collision occurred.  

Luna sustained injuries that included several rib fractures and a fractured collar bone.  Luna was transported to the Mercy Hospital.  This incident is pending further investigation to determine fault.
