9 year old Boy Recovering After Being Ejected From Car Accident

OROVILLE, Calif. -

A 9-year-old boy escaped with only minor injuries after being thrown out of a Jeep Cherokee involved in a car accident in Oroville Friday.

The accident was reported around 1:45 p.m. on Wyandotte Road.  A Kia sedan was sitting at a stop sign waiting to turn left into a private driveway. 

The CHP said the driver of the Jeep Elise Cervantes, 21, didn’t see the Kia, and slammed into the sedan from behind.  The Jeep Cherokee rolled over and the

9-year-old, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from a side window.

The boy was taken by helicopter to in with minor injuries.  The other people in the Jeep Cherokee were the driver Elisa Cervantes, the injured 9-year old-boy, a 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old girl

The driver of the Kia Deanna Hatch, 50, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.   An 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl were passengers in the Kia.

The CHP said it was unknown if speed was a factor in the crash.
