A Chico woman’s wishing to watch the 49ers play in the Super Bowl one last time will come true this Sunday. She was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer one year ago.
Luellar Johnson is probably not your typical 49ers fan. She has 49er blankets, sheets, hats, and even umbrellas.
One year ago, football took a back seat when Johnson was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
"There's nothing they can do, she has four brain tumors on her right side," said Luellar's daughter Kandie Johnson.
Kandie Johnson knows she has limited time with her mother. She and her husband decided to move from their home of 10 years in Wichita Falls, Texas, to take care of her.
"He left all that so that means a lot to me," said Johnson.
They moved to Chico in June and ever since then, they have been doing everything they can to make her mom happy. Football was at the top of the list.
"She said out of blue, 'I want a Super Bowl party. I want to watch the 'Niners play.' That touched me so that's something we wanted to do for one her wishes," said Kandie Johnson.
Kandie decided to put together a super bowl party for her mother. Kandie and her husband will bring over their 73" big screen TV and will barbeque Luellar's favorite food. She said it's a small sacrifice to make her mom's Super Bowl wish come true.
