REDDING, Calif. -

There's about to be another shot at refurbishing Redding's Tiger Field for quality baseball and Redding Mayor Rick Bosetti is a big part of it.

It was announced Wednesday that Redding Mayor Rick Bosetti is the new manager of the Redding Colt .45's summer college team.  Beyond that, the former major league player is planning on the team joining the "West Coast League" in 2014, and bringing big improvements to Tiger Field.

Bosetti said he plans to go after grants, and the franchise holder isn't afraid to invest.

Bringing in 1,000 to 1,200 stadium seats,  putting in picnic seating, a new watering system, and eventually better lighting are just a few ideas he has for the new and improved field.

The total cost could amount to half a million dollars.

The West Coast League features division one college players and uses wooden bats.  All the teams are currently in the northwest; Medford is the farthest south.

Bosetti says the plan is for Redding to join the league next year, and for Chico to join the year after that.
