After defending his men’s 100m Olympic title Sunday, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt became the first man to win back-to-back 100-meter and 200-meter Olympic titles when he claimed the 200m crown Thursday.

Bolt held off his compatriot and training partner Yohan Blake down the stretch to take the victory. Bolt finished in 19.32 seconds. Blake was second in 19.44. The Jamaicans completed a sweep of the event when Warren Weir took third in 19.84.

American Wallace Spearmon was fourth in 19.90 seconds.

Bolt silenced critics Sunday in his 100m victory. Bolt lost to Blake earlier this summer at the Jamaican Olympic Trials, which caused some to question whether he was still the fastest man. He proved them wrong by defeating Blake and the rest of the field in one of the Olympics’ most popular events.
