Redding has a new place to enjoy a cold beer -- Wildcard Brewing Company.
They just opened their doors on Crossroads Drive, which is off Old 44 Drive.
The owners, Jenny and Jeff Hansen, got their start when they brewed their own beer as their wedding favors. After that, they started home brewing.
They then decided to take a big step and go professional. They moved to Northern England, where Jeff was trained as a brewer.
Eventually, he brought his knowledge back to Redding.
"Being from here originally, I was excited to come back and bring craft beer back to Redding. It's been too long since Redding's had a craft brewery and I was sad when I saw Redding was the largest town on the west coast without a craft brewery so we pulled up our roots again, decided to come back home and start making beer," Jeff said.
Wilcard features a variety of beers; Indian Pale Ale, a Cream Pale Ale, and more.
Right now, they rent tank space and brew in Santa Cruz. They plan on having a full production brewery in their building within the next two years.
They're open Wednesday through Sunday. On Friday nights they partner with different local vendors who come in and supply food.
