Burned Car In Chico Garage
CHICO, Calif. -

Police are looking for the person who abandoned a burning car inside someone else’s garage.

It happened in Chico’s Cal-Park Neighborhood around 12:45 Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters say a passerby spotted the burning vehicle behind a home at 1303 Yosemite Drive. It was fully involved in flames and parked half-way inside a carport attached to the back of the home.

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the structure. Alicia Wear lives in the home. She said she had never seen the vehicle, and wondered who would leave a burning vehicle so close to her home.

“It got close enough to peel some of the paint on the garage, but it wasn’t burning long enough to cause any real damage,” said Wear. “But that’s my home, and it could have caught fire today. We don’t even know who did this, it’s kind of crazy.”

The fire marshal said the fire is suspicious. Police are still trying to track down the owner of the vehicle to find out how it ended up where it was found.
