Police said a business owner caught a burglar red-handed early Saturday. It happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Oroville Police were called to Air Cooled Unlimited at 2816 Olive Highway.
Employees had detained and held a suspect at gunpoint after he cut through a chain link fence, apparently in an attempt to steal lawn mowers.
The business owner said he and another employee camped out in the back fenced yard as a deterrent after several recent thefts at the business in the last few weeks.
Police said the suspect Dillion Masterson, 24 of Oroville, was seen cutting through the fence and removing two lawn mowers. Each machine is valued at $350. The business owner approached Masterson and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived. Masterson was booked into Butte County Jail on charges of theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of concentrated cannabis, possession of burglary tools and committing a felony while being released on OR/Bail.
