Aggressive attack from the ground and air allowed crews to make "good progress" on a small brush fire burning off Bear Mountain Road, a CAL FIRE public information officer said Saturday.

When it started, the fire was threatening structures. However, according to the incident commander and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, no evacuations were in effect for the fire as of 3 p.m. Saturday.

The small fire, which started off Christian Way near Bear Mountain Road, had burned around six to ten acres by 2:00 p.m. Saturday, CAL FIRE reported.

CAL FIRE brought in air tankers, air attack, as well as numerous ground crews.

By 3:00 p.m. CAL FIRE reported the fire was 50 percent contained.

The California Highway Patrol was enforcing a hard closure of Christian Way at Bear Mountain Road, as of 3 p.m. Saturday.
