Some Christmas tree recycling programs in various Butte County areas for 2012:
Chico & Durham
Boy Scouts Troop 2
Jan. 7 $10-30 donation requested. Call 570-7178 to request pickup. Leave name, address and phone number on the answering machine. Or you can request online at www.troop2chico.com.
Have trees on the curb by 8 a.m.
Drop-off locations on Jan. 5:

City of Chico Compost Facility
Drop-off: Free drop off at facility Dec. 26
Jan. 8: Hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Remove all tinsel and ornaments.
Recology Butte Colusa Counties
Curbside collection for current yard waste customers: Place trees next to yard waste containers or in container on regular recycling day. Must be next to container cut into three ft. or smaller sections and bundled.
Curbside: Cut trees into 3 ft. lengths and place in yard waste containers for collection on regular yard waste day. Remove all tinsel and ornaments.
Earthworm Soil Factory
Drop-off: Free drop off at Neal Rd. just east of Hwy 99. Remove all tinsel and ornaments. No flocked trees.
Berry Creek and Feather Falls

Free drop-off at Berry Creek Grange Hall Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trees must have all tinsel and ornaments removed. No flocked trees.

- Mountain View Trees on 1986 Mountain View Dr.
Curbside: Yard waste pickup on regular yard waste day. Remove all tinsel and ornaments. No flocked trees. Cut into 3 ft. sections. Tree must fit inside green waste cart.

Curbside: Cut trees into 3 ft. lengths and place in yardwaste containers for collection on regular yard waste day. Remove all tinsel and ornaments. Biggs residents can drop trees off at the Biggs/BCFD station on B St. from Dec. 26 to Jan. 9.
City of Redding customers wishing to get rid of their Christmas tree can:
1) Cut the tree into four-foot sections and drop them on the curb in front of their home the week of January 7 on their normal trash day
2) Cut up the tree and put it in the green waste bin, or
3) Drop tree off at the city transfer station on Viking Way (deadline is January 31).
This is for City of Redding customers only.
A City of Redding bill and photo ID are required at the transfer station.
