Officials just released the name of a 25-year-old parolee at large who was killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning.
Adam Stevens was a wanted parolee who had an arrest record consisting of second-degree robbery, spousal abuse, obstructing justice, vandalism, possession of a controlled substance and two felony parole violations.
Police said around 7:30 Thursday morning, Red Bluff police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Red Bluff Meadows Apartments at 850 Kimball Road.
At a 4 p.m. press conference in Red Bluff, officers said they attempted to arrest Stevens after receiving a 911 call saying that he was on a balcony and should not be there.
The officers said they tried to get Stevens to leave with them using non-lethal methods first but said he resisted and made an aggressive move toward two officers with a knife.
Police say that this is when three officers fired shots.
Stevens' body could be seen on an apartment balcony Thursday morning.
The incident is being investigated by the Tehama County District Attorney's Office with assistance from the Tehama County Sheriff's Office. All three officers are on paid administrative leave.
