REDDING, Calif. -

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting just outside of Redding late Saturday morning.

It happened on Frazier Road off Abernathy Lane just before 11:30 a.m.

Deputies at the scene confirmed James Hayes, 30, of Redding, was shot multiple times with what is believed to be a .22 caliber handgun after getting in an argument with Raymond Azevedo, 62, over some sort of loud noise.

Investigators say Hayes was rushed to the hospital by a family member. Deputies say he is in serious condition.

A no-bail warrant has been issued for Azevedo's arrest on a charge of attempted homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Shasta County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit.
