ANDERSON, Calif. -

The Shasta County Sheriff's Dept. is actively looking for a suspect who they believe stabbed his mother inside of her house with a knife and fled the scene.

The suspect's name is Johnathan Sober and police said he is driving a brown Toyota Corolla with two women inside.

Sgt. Steve Grasshoff of the Shasta County Sheriff's Dept. said he has shoulder-length brown hair, he is in his 30's and he was last scene wearing a black jacket.

Deputies said he allegedly stabbed his mother then fled with two women. It is unknown whether the women knew of the stabbing.

Sgt. Grasshoff said the women were possibly church members who were there to visit the grandmother who lives at the house.

It is unknown why Sober stabbed his mother, but Sgt. Grasshoff said he was told that they were arguing about finances earlier.
