CITY OF SHASTA LAKE, Calif. -

An Anderson man is in custody after a violent confrontation with deputies who tried to arrest him.

Deputies said he kicked out the rear window of a patrol unit and nearly choked.     It happened Monday around 10:30 a.m. in the City of Shasta Lake.

Deputies said Kevin Hursey, 28 of Anderson, was spotted emerging from a stolen vehicle on State Route 151 near Shasta Park Way in the City Shasta Lake

They noticed blood on Hursey and the vehicle.

When they tried to swab the blood, Hursey resisted and allegedly tried to swallow the swab.

Deputies had to restrain him so that he wouldn't choke.  Hursey kicked out the patrol unit's window while they were taking him into custody.

He was arrested on a series of charges including vehicle theft, vandalism, probation violation, and resisting arrest.
