The Tehama Interagency Drug Enforcement (TIDE) task force conducted an operation on Oct. 19 that resulted in two drug busts and four arrests.
TIDE agents stopped 33-year-old Travis Nelson of San Diego for a traffic violation near Bowman Road on Highway 36W. When Nelson was searched, agents found a switchblade knife and a police baton in his car. Nelson was arrested for possession of an illegal weapon.
Later in the day, TIDE pulled over on Highway 36 west of Bowman Road to assist disabled motorists Daniel Phipps and Eric Robb, both 20-year-olds from Sacramento. Agents smelled marijuana coming from the car and found 6 ½ lbs. of marijuana inside. An assault rifle and ammunition were also found in the vehicle.
Both men were arrested for possession and transportation of marijuana with the intent to sell. Robb was also booked for possession of an illegal weapon and being armed in the commission of a felony.
The last bust happened on the 700 block of Antelope Blvd. when TIDE agents saw a suspicious vehicle in front of some abandoned businesses.
Inside they found 40-year-old David Petty, who had several outstanding arrest warrants.
When agents searched Petty’s car, they also found a small amount of marijuana, methamphetamine, and a glass smoking pipe. Petty was arrested for his outstanding warrants and possession of a controlled substance.
All four suspects were booked into Tehama County Jail.
