Enterprise Coach Back in the Game Against Foothill

REDDING, Calif. -

Enterprise Football Coach Darren Trueblood will be coaching at Friday night’s game against Foothill High School.

Trueblood was kicked out of a game against Paradise High School on Fri., Oct. 5 during the first half for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties--one of which was given when an official ran into him on the sideline.

According to high school football regulations, if a coach gets two penalties he or she must sit out the rest of the game along with the following game.

Trueblood appealed the suspension but it was denied by the Northern Section CIF on Wednesday.

Keith Turner, Enterprise High School Athletic Administrator and Assistant Principal, took the appeal to a higher level.

Turner talked with the state rules interpreter who said the second penalty was not a penalty after all because the coach was on the sideline and the run-in was unintentional.

“I’m just excited to be back on the sidelines,” Trueblood said about the appeal. “It has been kind of a trying week.

“Now we can get back to playing football and that is what I think our kids do best so it is back to the kids; get the focus off me,”  said Trueblood.

Trueblood said he was still at practice this week. He said they are not looking backwards, only forward to tonight’s big game.
