REDDING, Calif. -

The family and friends of the two people killed in a fiery crash in Redding are speaking out.

It happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning at Highway 273 and Buenaventura Boulevard.

The driver was 23-year-old Jeffery Courtroul. The passenger was 24-year-old Thomas Pimentel.

Their car burst into flames after running a red light and hitting a UPS truck.

57-year-old John Abraham was driving the UPS truck. He was treated for 2nd degree burns on his legs.

Tara Courtroul, Jeffrey Courtroul's wife, says her family is devastated. The couple have two sons; a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old.

Joshua Roden, a longtime friend to both Jeffery and Thomas says this is a major loss for all of them.

"They're both really kind-hearted people. They cared and loved all their friends and family and there's a lot of us that are hurting. They left behind a lot of people who cared a lot about them. We've got beautiful memories of them all," Roden said.

He said they're all thankful for the memories they do have.

"He's gone to a better place. They're both there and they're both watching us. They know we're here, you know and we'll see them eventually, he said."

Roden said as reality sinks in, all they can do is comfort each other and celebrate the lives of the two men who were lost.

"We just, we love them and we miss them. We want them back, you know, but we'll be alright and they'll be alright."
