RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A fast-moving fire destroyed a mobile home Monday morning in Tehama County.

The fire started at 8:45 a.m. at 18000 Ridge Road west of Red Bluff .

The property owner Ray Nelson told KRCR News Channel 7 his son lives in the mobile home next to the family's home.

But when the fire started Monday morning, his son was not at the mobile home.  Instead he was in the main house babysitting some of the family's
foster children.

Nelson and his son heard popping noises and soon found the trailer on fire.

"Probably the popping noise from whatever started it would have woken him up, it would have gotten his attention," said Nelson.  "But nothing probably could have been saved anyway. When it got going, it was up in a hurry."

The trailer is a complete loss with damage estimated at $100,000. One of the fire engines got stuck on the mud and had to be pulled out .
