A fourth man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened at the TA Truck Stop in Redding last June.
28-year-old Billy Benjamin was arrested just before noon Wednesday by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office. Benjamin admitted being involved in the case.
Deputies said 22-year-old Darryl Jernigan, 21-year-old Deshawn Young-Dabney, and 27-year-old Jerome Bugurin pretended to be selling $10,000 worth of prescription pain medication at the truck stop and planned to rob the alleged buyers.
During the robbery, shots were fired, and a bystander was shot. The trial for the three men is set for February 20th. Benjamin will be arraigned sometime this week.
All four suspects are being charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and kidnapping. In addition to those charges, Young-Dabney will face a charge of assault with a firearm.
