COTTONWOOD,Calif -

Homes of Hope for VIDA is a non-profit organization that helps people who have been victims of domestic abuse.

However, the fairly new organization has a problem -- it does not yet have a building to work out of. The co-founders, Clyde and Carol Brandt, currently work out of their home but they have hopes of infrastructure to help families of domestic abuse.

The goal of the non-profit is to provide transitional housing for women who been victims of domestic abuse.

The Brandts want to give the victims a place to live for two years. During those two years they will get one-on-one mentoring and will learn life skills that will eventually help them to move on with their lives.

The co-founders have seen the pain that the women have gone through.

“They’ll leave seven times on average before they fully make the break,” said Clyde Brandt. “Some less, some more and we saw this person go through this cycle over and over again. And she would leave with her children; she would have a place to stay but then she would go back because she did not have the skills to make it on her own.”
