Tom LeRoux walked into his house to find his wife dead and son dying about a month ago in Magalia. Today, he decided to go on the record to discuss the apparent murder-suicide and his belief that doctors did not do enough to help his son with mental health issues.
In mid-September, Tom LeRoux, 61, said he arrived at his home to find his wife shot to death on the kitchen floor and his son with a quarter-sized bullet wound in his chest.
His son, Travis LeRoux, 25, was still alive when paramedics arrived on the scene but was later pronounced dead. Kelli LeRoux, 50, Tom’s wife, was dead when Tom got home.
Police believe that Travis LeRoux shot his mother, Kelli, then shot himself.
In an exclusive interview with KRCR News Channel 7, Tom LeRoux said that when he walked in to find his dead wife and dying son, he approached Travis. He said that his son was visibly trying to say, “I’m sorry.” Tom said that he could see in Travis’ eyes that Travis had made the biggest mistake of his life.
“Travis was not a monster,” LeRoux said. He also said that Travis had been having trouble in college but was getting help for some of his mental issues. Tom LeRoux said that he was angry Travis' doctors never informed the family that he could be dangerous.
