Increasing Violence in Chico: Two Stabbings Monday Night

CHICO, Calif. -

There was more violence Monday night in Chico.

Three people were stabbed in two separate incidents.

Two 19-year-old men were stabbed during a fight just after 8:30 p.m. Monday near West 12th and Holly Avenues.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses identified the suspect as 18-year-old John Patrick Jenkins III.

Jenkins was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

In a second incident, police are looking for the man who stabbed a transient at One Mile Recreation Area in Bidwell Park.

Police said the victim, a 21-year-old man, got into an argument with the suspect just after 8 p.m. Monday.

The suspect stabbed the victim in the right leg.

The victim ran away and collapsed in front of the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) building.

His wound is not life threatening.
