CORNING, Calif. -

A man with an outstanding warrant in San Francisco crashed his motorcycle in Corning after leading police on a pursuit early Sunday morning.

34-year-old John Richard Kannon led officers on a high speed chase after they attempted to make a traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 5. When Kannon refused to pull over, he merged onto Highway 99 southbound and turned eastbound on Solano Street reaching speeds near 80 mph on city streets.

After leading CHP officers and Corning police officers through downtown, Kannon came to a dead end on Columbia Avenue and crashed his motorcycle into a ditch. He ran into nearby orchards but was soon tackled by a Corning K-9 officer.

Kannon was taken into custody and air flighted to Enloe Medical Center for K-9 bite wounds to his arms and legs. He was in possession of five packaged bags of marijuana and had an outstanding traffic warrant out of San Francisco. Kannon was later released from the hospital and booked into Tehama County Jail.
