A six-year-old Cottonwood boy is hoping to become NASCAR's next big star.

Preston Carr, 6, of Cottonwood, recently won first place in the Red Bluff Outlaws West Coast Championship out of 30 racers ranging in the age from five to nine.

Carr dreams of becoming a professional NASCAR driver like his idol Kyle Busch.

He has only been racing for about nine months but he’s already a natural, and his trophies show that. He said racing every weekend gives him practice and gets him ready.

When asked if he gets nervous when another driver is faster, his response was: ”No, because I can just go right past them."

Preston’s dad, Chris has seen how much Preston has improved . He says he’s proud of him.

"You can’t really explain it. Everyone that has kids knows how proud they can be when their kids are doing something really amazing at such a young age," he said.
