Man Accused of Battery & Kidnapping of Girlfriend

RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A Red Bluff man is facing kidnapping and battery charges, police said he held a woman against her will.

They said us she was able to escape by shattering a window and screaming for help.   

It happened Thursday night around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of Cemetery Lane.

A witness heard a woman screaming for help in the area of Oak Hill Cemetery.  Police and deputies found Christopher Brownfield and a trailer parked at the residence.

Police said the victim had tried to leave the residence after an argument.  Christopher Brownfield followed the victim outside and carried her 50 feet back into his trailer, holding her against her will.

She was able to break free, and escaped through a window, cutting herself on the broken glass.

Brownfield is charged with domestic battery, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.

Police said Brownfield is a Post Release Community Supervision probationer.  He was booked into the Tehama County Jail.
