FORT JONES, Calif. -

A dead body was found Wednesday morning in a remote area of Forest Mountain in Siskiyou County.

On Wednesday around 8:00 a.m. Siskiyou County deputies were called out to Soap Creek Road just west of SR 3 between Yreka and Fort Jones for a reported dead body that was laying in the middle of the road.

Deputies identified the man as David Perry, 69, of Klamath River. He was found 1.6 miles west of SR 3. Deputies said it looked like Perry had been dead for a few days before anyone found him. They do not know the cause of his death, however, they said Perry had no signs of trauma or signs of foul play on his body.

The case is still under investigation and deputies said they will be treating the case as a possible homicide until the autopsy is complete.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office at (530) 841-2900.
