ANDERSON, Calif. -

Charges have been filed against a first grade teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary for having drugs and alcohol on campus.

Jessica Lafayette is the teacher accused of having methamphetamine, alcohol and marijuana on campus.

According to the police report, a custodian at Meadow Lane found a purse that was left behind in the staff room on February 7th.

In order to try and figure out whose it was, the custodian looked inside the purse. In it, she found a marijuana pipe, a flask filled with alcohol in it and a Costco card with Lafayette's name on it.

The report said Superintendent Harley North immediately came to the school and called investigators.

In addition to the marijuana pipe and flask, the officer also found methamphetamine in the bag and a small amount of marijuana.

Lafayette was interviewed by an investigator the next day.

According to the report, she denied having lost a purse at all. When asked if she smoked marijuana, she said her husband did. When asked if she brought alcohol on campus, she claimed she had actually quit drinking last year.

The investigator asked why her Costco card would be in the bag with these items she said,"I'm completely clueless."

Charges against Lafayette were officially filed Tuesday.

She's charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drugs and alcohol on a school campus. Both are misdemeanors.
