Medical License Suspended for Physician Assistant Accused of Rape/Kidnapping
A Chico physician assistant charged with rape and kidnapping had his medical license suspended Monday.
Lonnie Keith, 40, waived his preliminary hearing and will be back in court on May 1 to be arraigned.
In court Monday, his medical license was suspended after a plea from the State Attorney General.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said they found the same type of sedative drug in the victims that were also in the syringes they found in Keith's car.
Court documents dated September 2012 allege that Keith raped one woman by drugging her and tying her up.
Then in October, prosecutors say Keith kidnapped another woman and tried to rape her.
Keith earned a graduate-level certificate as a physician assistant in 2006 from U.C. Davis.
Enloe Medical Center confirmed Keith was a clinic technician from 1998 to 2005, and then re-hired in June 2008 as a physician assistant.
Enloe said news of his arrest is "quite a shock...and not a match with the professional that he is."
