On Jul. 27, a Glenn County Public Works crew discovered a human skull near a large pile of brush and tree trimmings.
The Glenn County Sheriff's office sealed off the area and ran forensic tests to determine that the remains belonged to a white female between 35 to 45 years old. However, the sheriff's office could not determine who exactly the remains belonged to until Wednesday when they found out they belonged to Heidi Ring--a missing person who disappeared in June 2005.
Ring went missing on Jun. 8, 2005 and was last seen at around 3 p.m. at a motel off of Manzanita Court in Chico.
Ring had a Shasta County warrant out for her arrest from a misdemeanor vandalism charge when she disappeared and she had relocated to Chico.
No cause of death has been determined in this case and it is unknown how or when Ring's remains came to be at Ord Bend Park.
