Northstate"Our message was simple: no budget, no pay. This vote puts the House on record as willing to forgo our pay if we fail to pass a budget," explained Representative LaMalfa. Northstate Congressman Doug LaMalfa released the statement after the House of Representatives passed House Resolution 325.

House Resolution 325 will fund the federal government through the budget deadline while withholding pay of Representatives and Senators if a budget is not passed by April 15th. Federal law requires Congress to pass a budget each year by April 15th.

LaMalfa claims the Senate has failed to meet that deadline saying, "This bill maintains the full faith and credit of the United States and puts pressure on the Senate to pass a budget after failing to do so for four years."

House Resolution 325 passed on a bipartisan vote of 288 to 144. The bill will now be considered by the Senate where it is expected to pass.

Doug LaMalfa is California's First Congressional District U.S. Representative.
