ANDERSON, Calif. -

A traffic stop in Anderson led to the seizure of nearly $27,000 in cash and drug packaging materials.

It happened Sunday at 7:46 p.m.  The Anderson Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2012, Ford Mustang for driving on I-5 during hours of darkness without its lights illuminated.

The driver of the Mustang Stephen Walker, 28 of Texas, did not possess a driver's license in Texas nor was he licensed in California.   Donna Long, 24 also of Texas, was a passenger in the car.

Police said during a search of the Mustang, packaging materials consistent with packaging used for illegal narcotics trafficking were located in the vehicle.

A Shasta County Sheriff's Office K-9 was also used and positively alerted on the vehicle for the presence of an odor of controlled substance. No illegal narcotics were located during the vehicle search.   However officers seized $26,900 in cash.

Walker was subsequently cited and released for driving while unlicensed.
