One Bicyclist Killed And Another Injured After Getting Hit By A Car
SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. -

A man hit two bicyclists with his car causing fatal injuries to one, and minor injuries to the other around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on State Road 89 in Shasta County.

The two bicyclists from Susanville were riding three-wheel, recumbent style bikes south on State Road 89 just north of State Road 44. The driver, 37 year-old Pedro Sanchez of Sparks, Nevada was also heading south in his 2007 Jeep Laredo. CHP say Sanchez lost control of his car when he tried to slow down, and that’s when his car hit the two bicyclists. Sanchez first hit the man riding his bike, causing him to get ejected and suffer fatal injuries. Officers say Sanchez’s car then hit the woman on her bike, dragging her for about 70 feet before stopping.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, his name is being withheld. The woman, 42 year-old Heather Loy was taken to Mayers Hospital in Fall River Mills for minor injuries. Sanchez was not injured.
