Anderson Fire Chief Andy Nichols says a resident went inside her burning home to save her pets and suffered severe burns to her body.
The fire was reported at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 19,000 block of Hill Street in Anderson. The homeowners were not home when the fire started. When they arrived, one of them ran inside to save their pets. Officials say the person suffered severe burns and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Redding. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was fully contained in an hour. Engines from Anderson Fire Department, Cottonwood Fire Department and Shasta County Cal Fire responded to the fire. Officials estimate $120,000.00 in damages to the structure and $50,000.00 in damages to personal belongings.
The fire started in the back of the home and the cause is still under investigation.
