College Student Suffering Life Threatening Injuries After Being Hit by Car, Driver Arrested
CHICO, Calif. -

Chico Police are now saying that the alleged drunk driver who hit a 21-year-old in Chico over the weekend was not at fault in the accident.

Chico Police are now saying that 21-year-old Brandon Fisher was responsible for what happened to him on early Saturday morning.

Fisher was with a group of friends crossing West First St. when he darted across Walnut St. and was struck by a 2007 Chevy pick-up truck.

Investigators said that the driver of the pick-up, a 20-year-old Matthew Lambert was intoxicated behind the wheel, but officers say that the driver still did not have enough time to slow down before hitting Fisher.

Chico Police say that even though Lambert was reportedly drunk, he is still not responsible for Fisher's injuries.

Fisher was taken to Enloe Medical Center on Saturday morning and is listed in critical condition. Lambert was released from jail on Saturday afternoon.

District Attorney Mike Ramsey said that Lambert will be in court on Jan. 18 for a misdemeanor DUI charge.
