PARADISE, Calif. -

Two teenagers in Paradise are accused in a late night stabbing that police believe may have been a gang initiation.

Now a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old are facing attempted murder charges.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. Sunday along the bike path north of Maxwell Drive in Paradise.

Police said the 16-year-old, and Alan Steen, 19, approached the two victims on the bike path.

The teen allegedly stabbed one victim several times for no apparent reason.  The second victim was injured trying to help the first victim.

The names of the victims were not released, but according to  police their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Butte County Search and Rescue were called to the area early Monday to search for the weapon used in the attack.
