Pro-Life And Pro-Choice Activists Speak Out On Abortion

Tuesday marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade , when the supreme court made the decision to legalize abortion.

Decades later abortion is an issue that is still very controversial and complex.  Pastor Stace Rollefson placed 40 crosses on the lawn of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Redding, representing the total years that abortions have been legal.  He says the crosses represent forgiveness for those who have chosen to have an abortion.

Across town at the Vintage Wine Bar in downtown Redding, The Women’s Health Specialist organization of Redding held an event to celebrate the anniversary of the ruling.  Rowan O’Connell- Barger, the clinic manager says that abortion should not be viewed as a sin, but as a woman’s right to choose.  More than 100 people came to show their support at the event.

However, Pastor Stace says the decision of abortion needs to be re-evaluated.

“The quick fix is to abort the child and there are other options.  We need to be pro-life and figure out how we can care for these children,” says Pastor Stace.

Whether people are pro-life or pro-choice, it’s a fight that neither side intends on backing down from.

“However a certain group might feel about the decision a woman is making, nobody gets to make the decision except that woman living that life,” says Barger.
