Red Bluff Police Officers to Solve Crimes With the Click Of A Camera

Red Bluff Police officers will be solving crimes and getting important evidence with a click of a camera.

The cameras are called Vivue cameras and they cost $875 each. About the size of a credit card, the cameras also have no on or off button. Officers can simply flip the devices open and they will begin recording.

The cameras were funded by a $13,000 grant given by the Northern California Cities Self Insurance Fund.

The Red Bluff Police Department has five of them and they said they plan on getting 12 more once funds become available.

At this point in time, the cameras are divided between two sergeants, two detectives and one patrol.

Sergeant Michael Graham said they will help the officers in many ways.

“Let’s say somebody is under the influence of alcohol or a suspect under the influence of drugs," Graham said. "The video of the person we're contacting can help support the probable cause the officers develop when they make an arrest in these cases.”
