REDDING, Calif. -

Hundreds flooded Redding's Civic Auditorium for the 25th State of the City Luncheon.

The Master of Ceremonies, Patrick Wallner, kicked the event off by introducing the Girl Scouts of Northern California. They did a presentation of the colors, then led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.

Randall Hempling, the C.E.O. at Shasta Regional Medical Center, introduced city council members, past mayors, chamber board of directors and other elected public officials.

Former Mayor Missy McArthur presented the Past Mayors' Philanthropic Award. It went to Dennis and Sherrill Bambauer, who were recognized for all the work they've done over the years.

Mayor Dick Dickerson said this year's focus was on the community, rather than just the city.

"This community has demonstrated the ability to make this one of the finest place to live over and over and over again and I know that we will continue to do that going forward," Dickerson said.

Mayor Dickerson recognized a handful of groups that he says work towards bringing the Redding community together. He said there are many organizations that help make the North State such a giving community.
