Redding Tea Party Orders Media to Not Film Part of Meeting
In a town hall meeting with U.S. Rep. Doug LaMalfa, the media was told they could not take video of the question and answer session or interview the Congressman.
The Redding Tea Party hosted the town hall at the Destiny Fellowship Church in Redding Monday night. Before the meeting started, an organizer with the Tea Party told KRCR News Channel 7 they were allowed limited access. No video was allowed to be taken during the group’s introduction of the Congressman as well as the question and answer period. KRCR News Channel 7 was also told to leave before the Q and A started. Members with the Tea Party also said the Congressman could not be interviewed while he was at their event.
The Redding Record Searchlight tweeted they were also asked to discontinue their coverage of the event.
The media was allowed to film the Congressman’s presentation. During his speech, LaMalfa covered a wide range of issues. This included the country's debt, immigration reform, gun control and his support for Rand Paul's filibuster stance on drone attacks.
