Pregnant Woman Robbed on Sundial Bridge
REDDING, Calif. -

A pregnant Redding woman that was robbed and assaulted near the Sundial Bridge Wednesday night gave premature birth to a healthy baby Thursday.

Redding police say 18-year-old Nicole Vultaggio of Redding was walking with 29-year-old Erica Swann of Anderson on the Sundial Bridge about 10:45 p.m when two suspects attacked the then 8-month-pregnant Vultaggio.

Reports say two male suspects punched Vultaggio in the face, choked her, and kicked her in the stomach after she fell to the ground.

The suspects then grabbed purses from both women and ran away.

Vultaggio was transported to Mercy Medical Wednesday night where she gave birth to a healthy baby on Thursday.

KRCR News Channel 7 spoke with Vultaggi's father, Roger, Thursday. He said both his daughter and grandson are doing fine. The two are being kept at the hospital for a few days to be monitored.

Roger says the assault and robbery were random acts and his daughter didn't know the suspects.

The suspects' descriptions are limited. Investigator would only say they are two white males, standing between 6' and 6'2''. They were wearing dark clothes and gloves.
