Beginning the middle of next month, Shasta Regional in Redding will accept Anthem Blue Cross insurance. About 80 percent of people in the area with private insurance use Anthem Blue Cross as their insurance company.
About four years ago, Shasta Regional changed hands and stopped accepting Anthem Blue Cross. Now, they are accepting it again in hopes to gain more patients and offer people more choices as to which medical center they want to go to.
Shasta Medical Center CEO Randall Hempling said the biggest change for the hospital will be more emergency patients.
“This makes the community stronger; it’s probably going to make everyone a little better in terms of quality,” Hempling said.
