A winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service is in effect until 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The warning states that the snow will continue in Redding and the National Weather Service is calling for an additional four inches of snowfall.
A series of pacific storms will track across northern California through the weekend, bringing periods of moderate to heavy snow in the mountains, as well as gusty winds.
Snow levels are expected to be as low as 500 feet in elevation in the Shasta County area through Saturday morning. The levels are slated to rise above 1,000 feet on Saturday and are expected to gradually rise out of the foothills to 3,000 to 4,500 feet in the Shasta Mountains.
