A Redding man whose classic 1970's Chevelle was stolen from his mother's garage nearly a month ago won't be getting his car back, despite the fact that police found it in working condition.
The car was recovered in West Sacramento by the California Highway Patrol Thursday, just one day after the car's owner, Roger Casey, received a payout from his insurance company. This legally means that the insurance company now owns the car.
Although he's excited the car was found, Casey says he had to get use to the idea of never getting his car back.
"I loved that car, it was a child," Casey said, "but the way the situation played out, it was taken out of my hands."
Casey plans to pay off some loans with the insurance money, but says he is thankful for all the people that helped find his car.
