LOS MOLINOS, Calif. -

A building was destroyed by fire Saturday night in Los Molinos, and witnesses said the flames could be seen from miles away.

The fire was reported at 8:11 p.m Saturday, in an outbuilding near Highway 99 and Josephine Street.  Cal Fire said the building is owned by Union Pacific Railroad and is located along the railroad tracks behind Gallagher's Heating and Air Conditioning at 7808 Highway 99E.

The fire destroyed the outbuilding and burned a quarter acre of vegetation and eucalyptus trees.

Damage is estimated at $5,000.

The cause is under investigation.  Cal Fire firefighters said the building is known to be used by transients.  There was no electricity to the building.
