Update: Anderson Man Arrested For Attempted Murder in Mother's Stabbing

An Anderson man was arrested for stabbing his mother in the leg.  

Johnathan Sober, 36, was booked into Shasta County Jail early Friday morning on a charge of attempted murder.

Sober was arrested around 8:30 Thursday night during a traffic stop at Deschutes and Balls Ferry Road.  

Deputies received an anonymous tip that Sober was at a home on Balls Ferry Road.  When they went there, they saw him driving, followed him and made the stop.  He was arrested without incident.

Deputies had been looking for Sober since stabbing happened Thursday around 3 p.m..  It happened at his grandmother's house on Spring Gulch Road.   Deputies said Sober got into a fight with his mother over family assets.

Investigators said Sober slashed mother in calf with a buck knife with a (6 in. blade).  She suffered a 4 inch cut and the injury was not life-threatening.

He left the scene and was arrested more than five hours later.

He is held on $500,000 bail on a charge of attempted murder.
